GM”s global sales for 2007 total 9.369 million vehicles and have gained three percent from 2006 mainly from sales outside North America. While Toyota claimed 9.37 million sales, a Toyota source has reportedly said that number is 9.366 million, which leaves GM with the bigger sales tally.
With three years running of above 9 million sales, GM has said that 2007 was the second biggest global sales total for the company. GM credits record sales in China, Russia and Brazil among other markets for the total.
Both Toyota and GM have made their gains in sales outside their home markets. Toyota has gained market share in the U.S. and GM has gained market share outside the U.S. where sales counted for 59 percent of the total.
