Spy Shots: BMW’s X3 M was caught testing its chops on the Nurburgring

BMW’s working on a full-fledged M version of the X3, similarly to how they have the X5 M and X6 M. This is in a move to closer compete with Mercedes-AMG’s latest GLC 63 and lately, the X3 M’s test mule was caught hustling around the Nurburgring, testing its chops.

The X3 M will obviously gain its inspiration from the M3 sedan, which it’ll also most likely get the same engine as the M3, but in a different power specification to better suit the X3’s extra mass.

Though not much else is known about the hyped-up, gussied up crossover from Munich. Speculation does point to a weight reduction by 220lbs and as much as 500hp from an M-treated 3.0L TwinPower turbocharged inline-six.

All this considered, there’s even the possibility of an X4 M as well. I wouldn’t be surprised.
