Audi to debut the 2017 A5 Coupe on June 2 to replace the current model

Audi officially announced to be revealing the all-new second generation 2017 A5 Coupe on June 2 at a special event in Ingolstadt, the home of Audi’s HQ.

Taking place at the Audi Forum building, the special event will actually be open to the public free of charge, where onlookers will be able to be entertained by a specially choreographed light show prepared by the renowned Hungarian group, Maxin10sity.

With the special show, viewers will also be able to see the unique revealing presentation planned.

From what we know, the new 2017 Audi A5 Coupe will ride on the same platform as the A4 sedan and Avant, just like the outgoing model. That platform is Audi’s latest MLB Evo platform and thanks to advances in the design and construction of the new chassis, the next A5 is said to lose around 220lbs when compared to the first generation.

And because of the A5’s common construction with the A4, you can also expect the same range of engines, meaning a choice of some various four-cylinder turbo mills, with the 3.0L supercharged TFSI V6 still serving duty in only the S5 Coupe, providing 354hp and 369 lb-ft of twist.

The RS5 was also hinted to make a return to round off the lineup later on in the A5’s lifecycle, with 480hp and an updated V8 with two electric turbochargers.
