Report: A production Bentley EXP 10 Speed 6 will happen, but crossovers take priority

If you’ve been wondering what the status of the drop-dead gorgeous Bentley EXP 10 Speed 6 was, so were we.

A new report hails in fromĀ CARandDRIVER, who reportedly heard Bentley is still in the process of making it happen. However, they’ve decided to take their sweet-ass time with it in order to focus on the launch of the Bentayga as well as potentially expanding their crossover lineup to include a “coupe-like” version of the Bentayga, similarly to how what the BMW X6 is to the standard X5 crossover.

Bentley’s CEO, Wolfgang Durheimer, confidently toldĀ C/D that they want to build the EXP 10 Speed 6, but they have to focus on the crossovers in order to increase the chances of production with hopes that the Bentayga and its new supposed “coupe” version will generate more cash flow to fund the project.

As of now, a launch date sometime in 2020 is expected, though Bentley’s board still has yet to approve the model for production. That said, it’s entirely up in the air as to what the EXP 10 Speed 6 could be powered by as speculation points to the possibility of an electric version with 400 to 500hp, with tech lifted from the Porsche Mission E Concept. Alternatively, the EXP 10 could go the more traditional route with a 600hp twin-turbocharged V8 lifted from the Continental GT.
