Teased: Say hello to the next-generation 2017 Kia Cadenza

It seems Hyundai and Kia like working in pairs because Hyundai just teased their first model to be labeled under their new Genesis luxury sub-brand, which is destined to be the Hyundai Equus and now, Kia, Hyundai’s corporate sibling, also teased a new model–the all-new second-generation 2017 Kia Cadenza.

Scheduled to hit the showrooms next year, the new 2017 Kia Cadenza is ready to raise the bar for Kia’s mid-range near-luxury sedan in nearly every aspect. From the entirely updated exterior, to the seemingly more upscale interior, the new Cadenza will appear to one-up the current model, a car that’s already quite nice for the price.

Aesthetically, the new Cadenza looks to be heavily inspired by the fairly recent GT Concept, incorporating the heavily shaped front-end and angular grille, with a narrowed-nose for a much more aggressive appearance than the current model. Heading around to the back and over the roof, which is very low-slung for a four-door coupe-like profile, the Cadenza definitely looks to be far more elegant and sporty.

The interior too is expected to echo the same premium aesthetic qualities of the exterior with an improved design, better fit and finish and the use of more wood trim.

Kia themselves were obviously coy on details, though the new Cadenza is speculated to receive an updated version of Hyundai’s naturally-aspirated 3.3L V6, which in current guise, produces 293hp and 255 lb-ft. Rumors also suggest the arrival of a new 2.0L turbocharged four-banger as a new base engine.

They also didn’t say when the new model will be revealed, but given the level of exposure these renderings share, it is imminent.

Kia Motors previews next-generation Cadenza

  • All-new Cadenza to set new standards for design and interior quality
  • Bold new model will maintain the fresh design of existing Cadenza and add greater refinement and luxury
  • On sale in overseas markets in 2016

The all-new Kia Cadenza will focus on cutting-edge design, interior quality and contemporary luxury when it goes on sale in overseas markets in 2016.

The next-generation Cadenza maintains the progressive, contemporary image of the current model, while introducing higher levels of luxury and refinement to the large saloon segment. The all-new Cadenza offers a bold reinterpretation of the current model’s popular design. Featuring an elongated bonnet, a wider, lower stance and sharper styling lines in keeping with Kia’s signature design cues, the new Cadenza is instantly recognisable.

The cabin of the all-new Cadenza has been restyled, boasting a fresh, luxurious appearance and layout that offers a sense of width and spaciousness. With a premium new design and higher-quality materials than ever before – two elements inspired by European tastes – the Cadenza’s new cabin aims to set a new standard for luxury and refinement in its class.

The all-new Kia Cadenza will go on sale in overseas markets in 2016. The Cadenza is not on sale in the UK.
