Report: Kia’s preparing to launch 22 redesigned models in the US over next five years

Ward’s Auto recently sat down with Kia Motors America’s COO, Michael Sprague, who spoke to the outlet regarding Kia’s lineup. As of now, the plan is to have Kia launch around 22 new or redesigned models within the next five years in a strong effort to keep the lineup fresh and relevant.

According to Sprague as well, Kia’s looking to have its first new model debut at the Los Angeles Auto Show next month. Sprague didn’t exactly say what model it was, though speculation hints at the possibility of either a new Cadenza or a revised Forte.

Afterwards, a hybrid and plug-in version of the Optima are expected to arise in Detroit, followed by Kia’s anticipated Toyota Prius hybrid competitor.

Ultimately though, if you were wondering what the status of the GT sports coupe was, so were we. But as of now, the model’s in a bit of a product planning limbo, according to Kia’s Vice President for the division, Orth Hedrick, who said it’s “still under study. We don’t have any announcements to make.”
