Video: Toyota turns the future into a reality with inspired Tacoma and the Mirai FCV

Well, it’s that day ladies and gents, the day Marty McFly and his long-time friend, Doc Emmett Brown, arrive from the past, October 26, 1985, and into the future, which is technically now, in Doc Brown’s one and only time-traveling DeLorean, only it probably won’t be flying out of the sky as depicted in the original second installment to the series, sadly.

What does become a reality however is Toyota’s latest Tacoma themed after the original Hilux featured in the original series as McFly’s truck of his dreams, later becoming a reality after altering the past and improving the lives of his parents.

And to also showcase how the future is now, Toyota used the opportunity to show off their strides with hydrogen fuel-cell technology leading to the Mirai propulsion system. That sucker ain’t nuclear, but it still runs on technology once thought to be unfeasible when the original Back to the FutureĀ movies were released in theaters.

Thanks to advances though, it’s become a reality.
