Report: The Bentley Bentayga to get e-turbo diesel version

When the Bentley Bentayga was revealed, it came with Volkswagen’s venerable twin-turbocharged 6.0L W12 mill, the same one serving duty in the Bentley Flying Spur and Continental GT.

That makes it the world’s fastest SUV crossover, though when it was also revealed, Bentley and Volkswagen hinted at other additional variants to the W12 option. Now, Bentley confirmed to be releasing a V8 version as well as a plug-in variant to the Bentayga lineup.

That V8 is expected to be lifted from the new Audi SQ7, a super diesel TDI crossover with a honkin’ twin-turbo 4.0L diesel V8, complete with Audi’s new e-turbo technology. Power is said to be rated at around 430hp with a possible torque figure hovering around 739 lb-ft of twist, or 1,000 Nm for you metric lovers.

In addition to the e-turbo diesel, Bentley also confirmed an additional plug-in hybrid variant to the Bentayga for 2017, but specifics for that model haven’t been disclosed.
