Report: The Bugatti Chiron is safe from Volkswagen’s project cuts

Volkswagen announced not too long ago to be shelving projects deemed excessive and unnecessary in the near-future amid resource reallocation for damage control amid the recent Dieselgate scandal.

Though for the projects already announced, some have been confirmed to be safe from the cutbacks, one of which was the new Volkswagen Phaeton.

Now, theĀ Jalopnik reports the Bugatti Chiron is also safe from the cutbacks and that Volkswagen confirmed, everything regarding the Chiron will continue as planned.

Details are still sparse, but we’re expecting the new Chiron to be heavily based on the recent Vision Gran Turismo Concept from the Frankfurt Motor Show, complete with its quad-turbocharged 8.0L W16 mill assisted by electric turbos, for an estimated output of around 1,500hp and a top speed in the neighborhood of 280 MPH.

A price point of around $2.5 million is expected in order to acquire a Chiron.
