Report: Volkswagen’s Phaeton free from project cancellations amid Dieselgate
Not too long ago, Volkswagen officially announced that they’ll be canning or suspending all projects deemed unnecessary and excessive throughout their portfolios.
But thankfully, the Phaeton project is not affected by these changes, according to CARandDRIVER.
According to the report, Volkswagen still holds the Phaeton dearly to their hearts as an important project, despite being one of the automaker’s slowest selling models. It is however iconic for Volkswagen, being their flagship halo luxury sedan that was once a buy word for over-engineered excellence, as a project commissioned by former Volkswagen head and guru, Ferdinand Piech.
Additionally, although the Phaeton didn’t last very long in the US and was a mediocre seller in Europe, especially when cars like the Audi A8 exist, it was a strong seller in China and other parts of Asia.
That said, the Phaeton is here to stay.
