Despite the loss of the lead star of the Fast and Furious movies, Paul Walker, the other lead star, Vin Diesel, announced officially on his Facebook page that there will be at least “one last trilogy” before bringing the series to an end. As if seven movies weren’t enough already…
Vin shared the word on his page, which was later bolstered by Universal Studios’ chairwoman, Donna Langley, who said the franchise has plenty of potential for profit, especially when the last movie, Furious 7, rolled in a whopping $1.5 billion in gross income after debuting in April. But they need to tread carefully as to make sure the series doesn’t get too old too fast.
The next movie expected to surface is in 2017, called Furious 8, while the remaining three movies are still in the processes of finding directors for the final trilogy.
Furious 8 is once again expected to feature Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson, along with Kurt Russell, who’s the newest addition to the cast of the films.
