Report: Cadillac could go beyond with a top-spec $100k ultra-lux Escalade

Despite the fear of gas prices and the campaigns for reduced excess, AutomotiveNews reports Cadillac might go against the grain of society to follow the growing niche of ultra-luxury SUVs and crossovers. This could mean we may possibly see a ballin’ Escalade whose asking price could break the six-figure mark.

Recently, companies such as Bentley and Rolls-Royce, and even Lamborghini, announced to be preparing their own crossovers or SUVs within the not-so-distant future, with mass-market automakers like BMW, Mercedes-Benz and Audi announcing their own super-lux crossovers, all threatening to make life hard for the full-size Range Rover. That said, Cadillac sees these moves, and understandably doesn’t want to be left out.

Nothing has officially been approved just yet, but it makes sense to elevate the Escalade’s status as the luxury crossover and SUV market continues to boom, not just in America, but in markets around the world, especially China.

Specifics aren’t quite available just yet, but the super-lux Escalade wouldn’t be the only addition to the SUV lineup for GM’s top brass as a previous rumor exists regarding a possible high-performance Escalade V to compete with the Jeep Grand Cherokee Trackhawk.
