Report: Lexus currently developing an LS-based fuel-cell vehicle

Hydrogen fuel-cells are beginning to catch on again for a possible new trend in the quest for alternative propulsion as word from AutomotiveNews says Lexus is in the process of developing a hydrogen fuel-cell-powered LS sedan.

Supposedly scheduled for a reveal at the Tokyo Olympic Summer Games in 2020, the new model will be based on the next-generation LS, featuring tech developed and inspired by the incoming Toyota Mirai.

Not much else was shared about this potential new hydrogen-powered LS, though AutomotiveNews heard Toyota is interested in using fuel-cell powertrains in models other than the Mirai. Its reveal at the Tokyo Olympics would also provide a solid moment for media coverage for Toyota and Lexus for their prospects, which hopefully by then, will be more feasible as hydrogen fuel-cell technology advances and becomes more readily available.
