Report: Christian Bale to play as Enzo Ferrari in new biopic

Some rumors have been floating about regarding a new feature film based on an adaptation of the book, “Enzo Ferrari: The Man, the Cars, the Races.” Written by renowned automotive journalist and author, Brock Yates, the novel’s premise takes place chronicling the life of the one and only Enzo Ferrari.

Now, some tabloids report Christian Bale, who also played Batman in the Nolan brothers’ remake, will play the role of a young Enzo, while the film itself is to be directed by Michael Mann.

Mann was the man responsible for major blockbuster films such as Heat, Public Enemies, Collateral, and The Last of the Mohicans. He also helped produce The Aviator.

Not much else is known about the movie, though shooting is scheduled to begin next summer with the film being set in the year, 1957, which was particularly a dark one for Mr. Ferrari himself.

During that year, he produced a car to compete in the Mille Miglia, though due to a major tire failure on his 4.0L Ferrari 335S, it crashed, killing its driver Alfonso de Portago, his co-driver, and nine other spectators. At that time, Enzo and his partner, faced serious manslaughter charges.
