Report: More details surface regarding Alfa Romeo Giulia, to receive new Ferrari-sourced V6

More details surfaced regardingĀ Alfa Romeo’s new midsize luxury sports sedan, the Giulia, which is the next model due for a reveal in the near future.

The tentatively-named Giulia is expected to be the next new model to arrive to the US from Alfa Romeo, following their recent reintroduction in to the North American market. Built to compete directly with the BMW 5-Series, the new Alfa plans on utilizing an all-new Ferrari-sourced and developed V6, according to Alfa Romeo and Maserati’s head boss, Harald Wester.

The new Giulia should go on sale in spring of 2016 and is being prepped to offer even a more high-performance oriented model above the standard version. This means the addition of two turbocharged on that new V6 to produce more than 500hp, which is said to also be the engine of choice for Ferrari’s new “Dino” model reboot.

The base Giulia however should be made available with an “advanced, high-output” four-banger, an engine that should replace Alfa’s current 1.75L four-pot found in the 4C. At its maximum tune, the new engine should be capable of around 298hp. The Giulia should be rear-wheel drive with the option of an all-wheel drive setup.
