Report: Mitsubishi’s working on their next Lancer

Finally, some new product news as Wards Auto reports that Mitsubishi is working on their next-generation Lancer.

The outlet spoke with Mitsubishi Motors North America’s executive vice president Don Swearingen, who confirmed the pending arrival of the new model.

However, it’s in a bit of a developmental rut since Mitsubishi’s also still seeking a partner to co-develop the car with them, but they can’t seem to source one. According to Swearingen, they can’t wait any more, so they’re attempting to start working on the model themselves.

They are however speaking to another automaker about possible ties, but there weren’t any specifications as to who. Speculation points to Nissan though.

Either way, the Lancer is old and is in dire need of replacement. The worst part is this new Lancer is at around two years away, at least.
