Spy Shots: There’s a Honda Civic five-door in the works, but it won’t look like this ILX test mule
Some spy shots have surfaced by way of AutoBlog and KGPPhotography, who snapped some shots of what appears to be a five-foor Acura ILX test-mule.
However, after prodding around, AB learned it’s instead a test mule for a new Honda Civic five-door, and the reason why it looks like an ILX is due to the fact that the Civic and the ILX are merely the same car, minus some changes here and there.
Either way, the more interesting news is that Honda is expanding the Civic lineup beyond the typical sedan and coupe, and it’s been a while since we’ve seen such variants like a Civic hatch of any sort.
Europe has soldiered on with a five-door Civic, but then again, the Civic over there is completely different than the one here, so there’s a bit of a big divide there. But recently, some rumors have been floating about suggesting that the Euro five-door Civic will be globalized and sold here stateside. This test mule is probably for that.
Do you think a five-door Civic hatch will bode well?
