Report: Mercedes-Benz’s new midsize pickup to be based on Nissan

Not too long ago, Mercedes-Benz confirmed to be working on a new midsize pickup truck for the worldly markets outside the US.

Now, The Wall Street Journal says the new pickup is most likely going to be based on an incoming Nissan model, given Renault-Nissan’s and DaimlerBenz’s latest team effort.

The truck is still being piloted by Mercedes-Benz’s Vans division and should come with a range of four- and six-cylinder engines. Currently, the specifics are being worked out.

The Benz pickup is destined to hit European, Latin American, Australian, and South African markets by the end of the decade while rumors for a US-bound version has open the light on some potential.
