Kia teases the new 2016 Optima ahead of its debut in New York

Kia’s bringing a new Optima to New York next week and already, we’ve gotten an idea as to what it should look like from the SportSpace Concept.

Now however, an official stock photo apparently got leaked of the new Optima sedan, and as anticipated, it resembles the SportSpace very closely.

Like that concept, the Optima gains the looks to move more upmarket in the segment, offering a more premium ambiance and profile. But like the outgoing Optima, it’s just flat-out a very good looking sedan. And we can thank Kia’s in-house designer, Peter Schreyer for that.

Power is to be supplied by a similar range of Hyundai-sourced engines as with the current model, which means a 1.6L turbocharged four, a naturally-aspirated 2.4L four, and a top-spec 2.0L turbo version. Europe should get a new 1.7L diesel-hybrid setup.
