Report: BMW E30 M3 to be source of inspiration for future potential hardcore M2 model
AutoCar recently sat down with Adrian van Hooydonk, who said the E30 M3 would be the main source of inspiration for a future M model.
This unnamed and potential M model that has the chance of being described as a spiritual resurrection of the famed, “God’s Chariot” as described by hardcore Bimmer lovers, could take form as a more high-performance and hardcore M2.
We all know the M2 is on its way to us sporting a detuned version of the M3’s turbocharged 3.0L inline-six with around 380hp on tap. The weight should also decrease to around 3,086lbs in order to bring the 0-62 time to just 4.4 seconds while improving handling.
This special edition M2 however is said to offer more power and less weight than the standard M2. It could also feature widened wheel arches and a pronounced rear wing, just like the original E30.
The standard M2 due date is sometime in 2016 while this supposed new model should surface a little later on.
