Report: Mid-engined Chevrolet Corvette not in the works, according to engineer

Origins of rumors about a potential mid-engined Chevrolet Corvette date back several decades ago since the rumor always surfaced whenever there was a new generation of Corvette. In fact, they surfaced so many times, many Corvette enthusiasts refer to the rumor, even when new, as “beating a dead horse.”

The latest Corvette generation wasn’t without its possible mid-engined rumor either, but there were some indications hinting that a mid-engined Vette may actually happen.

Now, it appears a Corvette engineer spoke to AutoLine.tv to say that Chevrolet is not working on a mid-engined Vette.

Vette engineer Tadge Jeuchter told the outlet that he would “have to check that out, because I know no such car exists.”

Jeuchter however did admit that Chevrolet analyzed the factors that make a mid-engined Corvette viable, however, it hasn’t gone much further than that. Either way, Chevrolet is under a lot of pressure to do something now that Ford resurrected the GT.
