Whatever you do, don’t call it an Auris. It’s no secret that Scion plans to revitalize its lineup over the next few months with a new sedan and hatchback, and that we’ll see the fruits of this labor early next month in New York.
It’s also no secret that the hatch, called the iM, will be our very own version of the Toyota Auris, a charming if not particularly interesting five-door that’s been, well, existing in other regions of the world for quite some time now. There is an all-wheel drive version, and a wagon on offer in other markets. Whether or not we’ll see those, however, has yet to be determined.
For now, we have a lone teaser shot to go off of, which confirms that, yeah, this is basically an Auris. Which is based on the Corolla platform. Scion may have a bit of an uphill battle ahead of them.
If the iM doesn’t “move you” in the way that, say, the FR-S does, then Scion would like you to check out the sedan they’re bringing to New York, called the iA. The press release calls it the more “practical” and “aggressive” option. We’d sure hope so, because being more aggressive than a five-door almost-Corolla doesn’t really scream “tall order.”
Fortunately, we’re promised “outstanding driving dynamics” as well. We’ll hold you to it, then.
Scion’s Double-Take at New York International Auto Show
World Debuts of Scion iM 5-door hatchback and Scion iA sedan

TORRANCE, Calif., March 18, 2015 – One look at Scion won’t be enough for guests attending the New York International Auto Show. It will take two looks (or more) to see the World Debuts from Scion. Both the Scion iM and the newly named Scion iA will be revealed on the eve of the show, March 31, 2015.
