Report: Elon Musk believes human drivers will eventually be banned

Elon Musk is all about being in the news since it helps the growth of his brand. But interestingly and ironically, at a recent NVIDIA GPU conference, Musk said he believes that human drivers would eventually be banned and outlawed as a result of the recent push to introduce autonomous driving technology.

This is a bit ironic since Musk built a better part of his business geared towards automobile enthusiasts, the kind of market consisting of people who aren’t exactly on board with the idea of autonomous driving.

He also predicts that a fully-autonomous driving system should be available in about a year while it’ll take 20 for autonomous cars to be standard tech, given the amount of manually-driven cars today.

But interestingly too, right after the conference, Musk went to Twitter to say that he’s “strongly in favor of people being allowed to drive their cars and always will be.”
