Report: Hyundai’s Santa Cruz Crossover Concept may hit production

Hyundai surprised the audience at this year’s Detroit Auto Show in January by introducing a new Santa Cruz Crossover pickup truck concept, hinting at the possibility of a Hyundai-built pickup truck. It may not exactly be a full-on body-on-frame truck, but rather similar to the current Honda Ridgeline, a unibodied pickup-like truck.

Now, Reuters reports that feedback was positive enough to elevate the concept to the next level of being approved for production. Yup, you read correctly, Hyundai might actually get around to making their own pickup truck.

Right now however, Hyundai’s R&D director, Park Byung-cheol, said that there are a “few obstacles” needed to be addressed before the truck actually makes it to production.

But the question still remains for the pickup lovers–would you buy a Hyundai pickup? They seem to make solid cars in every other segment.
