Report: Volvo bets on hybrids and autonomous driving for its future

Volvo is doing some big things right now, clearly exemplified by the launch of the new XC90 later this year.

That’s not all however as Volvo continues to seek new innovations, fulfilling their reputation for safety and technology. The current story of Volvo is no different and AutoBlog recentlys at down with Volvo’s head, Hakan Samuelsson, to get the low-down on what Volvo plans to do with its next generation of cars.

The two big focuses: hybrids and autonomous driving.

Volvo still recognizes that EVs and such have limited practicality and still don’t match the ease of filling up the tank with gas rather than having to wait hours for a recharge. Their solution: hybrids. Additionally, with all the focus on autonomous driving, Volvo has long ago planned to be one of the innovators for the technology. And they’ve been working real hard at it.
