Subaru celebrates producing 15 millionth Boxer engine
Subaru is one of only two manufacturers known to be reliant on the flat Boxer engine, the other being Porsche.
Without getting into an argument as to who started first (technically, it was Karl Benz for first Boxer engine), Subaru still has a long history of using the unusual engine design in all of its cars since the 1966 1000 sedan from 49 years ago.
That said, the brand happily announced to have produced its 15 millionth Boxer engine. Today, the most current form of that motor is Subie’s FB25 2.5L four, currently serving duty in everything from the Legacy, to the Outback, to the Impreza and the STi, in various states of tune.
Either way, producing 15 million of anything is a major accomplishment and there are many Subaru fans out there who would most likely join in on the celebration.
