Test Drive: 2015 Dodge Charger SRT Hellcat by AutoNation
Chrysler and Dodge recently shocked the world with the revealing of their most powerful production cars ever from the factory–the all-new 2015 Dodge Charger and Challenger SRT Hellcat.
Both boast a potent supercharged 6.2L HEMI V8 with over 707hp and 650 lb-ft of twist, which is helluva lot of power for a car that costs less than $100k. The Charger only gets a reinforced ZF-sourced eight-speed auto while the Challenger can come with the auto or an optional six-speed manual. And there’s so much power, Dodge even provides two different keys, one that reduces the power of the V8 to more usable levels, while a special key unleashes all 707hp, which you can use all the time if you choose to live dangerously.
The suspension, chassis, and steering were all also slightly reworked to provide the driver with more control of the Hellcats, but either way, there’s a lot of finessing demanded by these cars when all 707hp are available.
