Meet the Ariel Atom’s off-road sibling, the 2015 Ariel Nomad
The Ariel Motor Company is known for one thing–the bonkers and insanely fast, but rather minimalistic Ariel Atom. And for the longest time, the Ariel only designed the Atom for the track and the road. But now, they have an offering for the off-road crowd. Introducing, the all-new 2015 Ariel Nomad.
Like the Atom, on which it is loosely based off of, the new Nomad features greater ground clearance and long-travel suspension, with grippy off-road tires and lots of chassis tweaks for reinforcement.
But despite the changes, the Nomad only tilts the scales at 1,477lbs and only two-wheel drive is available. That really shouldn’t matter as the Nomad’s low weight will allow it to glide over rough surfaces. Motivation is provided by a high-revving 2.4L Honda-sourced four-banger, naturally-aspirated to offer 235bhp and 221 lb-ft of torque with a close-ratio six-speed manual. 0-60 happens in a swift 3.4 seconds and the top speed is 125 mph.
