Photo Rendering: Could this be the new next-gen Mitsubishi Lancer?

Although Mitsubishi officially announced to be axing the Lancer Evolution for good as the small Japanese automaker focuses on hybrid and EV models, this obviously doesn’t mean the Lancer itself is dead, especially when it’s a particularly integral and important model for them. That’s because the Lancer competes with cars like the Honda Civic, the Mazda3, the Subaru Impreza and the Toyota Corolla. And that’s a very crucial market for anyone involved, particularly for Mitsubishi, who needs all of the sales success and help they can take.

As a result, we can expect a new Lancer to come into view very soon since the current model is way overdue for a replacement. The problem is, nobody knows what it could look like, until now. Graphic artist Theophilus Chin is back in action with another render of what he thinks the next Mitsubishi Lancer might look like.

And needless to say, it’s definitely a looker if there’s any accuracy to Theo’s prediction.

The next-gen Lancer is said to be based off of either a new Renault or Nissan model, given Mitsubishi’s recent alliance with the French-Japanese automobile conglomerate. Regardless, the Lancer is an extremely important car for Mitsubishi and they need to make sure they hit a home run or a grand slam with the next model, and judging by the looks of it, they may have one. Otherwise, we’ll be adding Mitsubishi to our list of automakers destined to disappear from our market.
