Report: Porsche rules out any possibility for a Tesla Model S competitor

AutoCar reports Porsche is scrapping any plans to compete with Tesla and the Model S as the Zuffenhausen automaker wants to focus more on its smaller Panamera model, the Pajun, which we’re still awaiting to this day.

But this also doesn’t mean Porsche’s EV plans are done for entirely as the Pajun may get an EV version, which could place as the car brand’s closest competitor to the Model S. Though even when speaking to Porsche’s R&D boss, Wolfgang Hatz, there wasn’t much in the way of reaffirmation for serious plans about any EV sports car from Porsche as the technology is not up to par to the expectations of its customers and Porsche as a brand.

Hatz says that they’re patiently waiting for EV and battery technology to improve significantly before they even consider launching a new car. So it looks like traditional ICEs are the way of the near-future for Porsche. And we’re not complaining.
