Report: The 2016 Cadillac CTS-V should make around 640hp with a 6.2L supercharged V8

Car spotter Chris Doane apparently heard that the new 2016 Cadillac CTS-V should make something in the neighborhood of 640hp, from a supercharged 6.2L V8. That pretty much sounds like the new CTS-V is getting the new Corvette Z06’s mill, whereas the outgoing model got its V8 from the Corvette ZR-1.

The CTS-V apparently gets a detuned version too since the Z06 is rated at 650hp and 650 lb-ft of torque. But nonetheless, that’s quite a lot of oomph, even in this neck of the woods. Let’s put this into perspective. When compared to the new CTS-V’s supposed horsepower figure, the Mercedes-Benz E63 AMG only makes 577hp while the M5 is good for 567hp, even in top forms.

Either way, things are about to get really really interesting and the Detroit Auto Show in January holds the key to it all.
