Report: Lincoln to resurrect the Continental nameplate for 2016, could replace MKS

In what appears to be an indirect leak, famous singer and songwriter Neil Young apparently said that there’s a 2016 Lincoln Continental on the way.

How? Well, here’s the deal. Audio systems and infotainment centers in cars are teaming up with music artists and electronics companies for branding purposes. For instance, who doesn’t want a top of the line Bang & Olufsen audio system in their $100,000 Audi?

Except Neil Young has his own audio streaming service called Pono Music, and according to CNBC, Young just signed a new deal to feature his setup in Lincoln’s future cars, which will now feature Revel sound systems by Harmon Kardon.

And Young said that his Pono Music service should first show up in the new 2016 Lincoln Continental. We don’t think this is much of a bloop, unless Neil Young is so winded from his storied career as a famous music artist, that he still thinks it’s still 1977.

Either way, speculation has it the 2016 Lincoln Continental nameplate will be resurrected to replace the current MKS and is expected to still be based on the Taurus.
