Report: The next North American Honda Civic may actually get Civic Type R’s motor

Some interesting news has surfaced about future Honda Civic models from Motoryracing, who heard the US-spec Honda Civic may eventually get the option to be powered by the new Civic Type R’s motor.

Yup, that new 2.0L turbocharged four-banger good for around 275hp, serving duty in the new Euro Honda Civic Type R, might find its way in our shores.

Now, there isn’t much to work with in terms of confirming whether this is true or not. But either way, April Fool’s is still more than four months away and yet, we’d suggest anyone to take this rumor with a grain of salt.

The most powerful Civic ever sold in America has been the Civic Si and it still currently is available with a naturally-aspirated, high-revving 2.4L four-banger good for 205bhp and 174 lb-ft of twist.
