Report: Production Mini Cooper John Cooper Works shows up on the web

Australia’sĀ CarAdvice.com was able to snag some press photos of the new production Mini Cooper John Cooper Works for the 2015 model year.

At the Detroit Auto Show earlier this year, Mini brought a near-production ready concept to the show and now, the model is virtually ready to be launched. The new Mini Cooper John Cooper Works sports a 2.0L BMW-sourced TwinPower turbocharged four-banger with 228bhp and 236 lb-ft of torque and a six-speed manual transmission. The result is a o-62 time of just 6.3 seconds with the optional automatic cutting it back to 6.1 seconds.

Being a John Cooper Works car, the new Cooper gets the usual mix of visual and aerodynamic upgrades with spots suspension, an electric e-diff, Brembo brakes and optional adaptive suspension. It also weighs around 220lbs less than the outgoing model. The interior gets a slew of updates as well.

So hang tight, a full reveal is just around the corner.
