Report: A next-gen Jaguar XF reveal scheduled for New York in 2015

Auto show season is in full force and Jaguar reportedly announced the scheduling of a new next-gen Jaguar XF reveal for New York in April of 2015.

The XF is said to grow in size for the new generation and should be heavily inspired by the new XE compact sedan. It does get the same iq[AI] platform as the XE, but in larger proportions. But thanks to the new platform, a diet of 100kg or 220lbs has been achieved.

Thanks to being larger, the new XF should also benefit from more room inside, in the rear, and in the trunk.

Powering the new XF is Jaguar’s new line of Ingenium engines, all of which are up to 176lbs lighter than the outgoing Ford units the current model uses. Expect the usual mix of high-performance XFR and XFR-S versions to compete with BMW’s M5 and such, thanks to Jag’s new Special Vehicle Operations division. Rumors point to a V8 with as much as 600bhp. That sounds lovely.

Deliveries are slated to begin next fall with a Europe-only XF Sportbrake arriving in late 2016.
