Report: Next-gen Audi Q7 to get a plug-in hybrid version with a diesel engine

AutomotiveNews Europe reports the next-gen Audi Q7 could gain a plug-in hybrid version with a diesel engine, according to new sources.

The model gets influenced by Audi’s latest e-tron technology combined with the setup showcased on the RS5 TDI Concept. Audi’s development chief, Ulrich Hackenberg, shared some details by saying the hybrid system comes with plug-in capabilities and its internal combustion counterpart is a 3.0L V6 turbodiesel model, making it an addition to the very small list of diesel hybrids ever made.

Not much else is known about the Q7’s setup, but the Q7 itself is due for an arrival in 2017 with styling influenced by the Prologue Concept and a diet of around 800lbs.
