Report: Maserati Alfieri confirmed for production again

AutoCar recently spoke with Maserati’s marketing director for the UK, who once again confirmed the impending arrival of the hot new Alfieri Concept in production form.

It’ll be ready by 2016 and will initially be launched as a coupe, followed by a convertible variant later that year. AutoCar also learned that the Alfieri name should stick around for the production variant. The Alfieri also aids Maserati’s new quest to sell 75,000 models in 2018.

The Alfieri is expected to be Maserati’s answer to the Porsche 911, Jaguar F-Type, the Chevrolet Corvette, and the Mercedes-Benz AMG GT. The platform is sourced from the same one supporting the Ghibli and the Quattroporte and the same engine, a turbocharged 3.0L V6.
