Photo Rendering: This could give us an idea as to what the next Audi Q7 might look like

The Audi Q7 is due for a replacement soon and so far, we know it’s going to be a significant departure from the current model, which is still from the first generation.

Visually, the new Q7 is expected to set the stage for Audi’s other crossovers and their design language. Spy shots have revealed a more edgier design with a little more muscular flare, versus the current model’s troll-like appearance.

This latest speculative rendering fromĀ X-Tomi Designs could give us an idea as to what to expect. Additionally, the new Q7 is rumored to weight a whopping 800lbs lighter than the current model, thanks to be built on Volkswagen’s all-new MLB Evo platform.

Expect the usual range of gasoline and diesel six- and eight-cylinder engines along with a range-topping SQ7 with a powertrain inspired by the RS5 TDI Concept’s setup with electric turbochargers. There’s also a hybrid version in the works for tree huggers, which should borrow tech from the latest Cayenne S-E Hybrid.

The Audi Q7 is expected to go on sale in the first half of 2015 followed by a larger Q8 model in 206 or 2017.
