Report: The Mercedes-Benz C63 AMG to remain rear-wheel drive for foreseeable future

CarAdvice spoke with Mercedes-AMG’s boss, Tobias Moers, at the LA Auto Show recently and they inquired about whether or not the C63 AMG could see 4MATIC all-wheel drive or not.

And according to Moers in the interview, the C63 AMG will actually forgo all-wheel drive this time around. There is a possibility in the future, but it’s current unclear as to whether or not a C63 AMG 4MATIC makes sense from both a marketing perspective and the amount of demand.

The latest C63 AMG was revealed in September with a 4.0L twin-turbocharged V8 lifted from the AMG GT, though in the C63, it produces 476hp and 479 lb-ft of twst while the C63 S delivers 510hp and 516 lb-ft of twist. Both are attached to an AMG Speedshift MCT seven-speed dual-clutch automatic to produce a 0-62 timeo f just four seconds for the C63 AMG S.
