Scion launches the FR-S Release Series 1.0 at dealerships w/ video

Toyota and Scion seem to be giving buyers exactly what they’re not quite looking for. While potential buyers have been clamoring for a more powerful variant with help from forced induction, Scion seems to be offering the complete opposite. This latest special version of the FR-S is a prime example.

It’s called the 2015 Scion FR-S Release Series 1.0 and it’s very much a normal Scion FR-S plus some more. What exactly is that more? Well, you can stop holding your breath because it isn’t really performance related.

Instead, the Scion FR-S Release Series 1.0 comes with a bunch up aesthetic and bodywork upgrades compliments of Toyota’s Racing Development, some special badging to indicate that you bought something that’s just slightly more special than the normal FR-S, and some bespoke coloring. The only performance upgrades include a TRD Quad Tip Exhaust System and TRD lowering springs.

The FR-S Release Series upgrades include the following:

Additional FR-S Release Series 1.0 features include:

  • TRD steering wheel
  • TRD shift knob
  • Black seats with T-pattern
  • HID headlamps with LED daytime running lights
  • TRD logo cargo mat
  • Smart Key with Push Button Start

The cost for all this extra kit: $29,990, which makes the FR-S just a bit steep on the price side. The ticket to exclusivity usually costs a little more however, considering only 1500 will be made.

Otherwise, the Scion FR-S Release Series 1.0 remains mechanically the same.
