Report: A new Volkswagen Tiguan CC could surface sometime in 2016

Volkswagen is continuing its binge of niche-filling and one of those potential fillers includes a stylized version of the Volkswagen Tiguan crossover to make a Tiguan CC.

As the name implies, the Tiguan CC could take form as a more slick-back four-door coupe version of the Tiguan, similarly to the BMW X4, as we can see in the rendering completed by WorldCarFans’ graphic artists. It would be based off of the recent Volkswagen Cross Coupe and Cross Blue Coupe Concepts and would be built to compete against the likes of the Range Rover Evoque, the BMW X4, and the Lexus NX.

Even recently, Volkswagen Australia’s managing director said VW expresses interest in producing a new spin-off of the original Tiguan for the next generation. In addition to the new CC model, the Tiguan itself is expected to grow an extra pair of seats to become a new seven-seater model. A launch date sometime in 2015 is expected with the Tiguan riding on VW’s latest MQB platform with a wide array of gasoline and diesel four-bangers.
