Report: BMW is already planning big things, including six new FWD models

BMW is going the way of the sacrilege as it seeks to beef up its front-wheel drive offerings.

According to AutoExpress in the UK, BMW is set to reveal up to six new front-wheel driven models by the end of 2017. Several of those include the already existing 2-Series Active Tourer, a future seven-seat model for 2015, the new X1, an X2, and the new 1-Series. But other big news from this front-wheel-ness includes a Z2 roadster, which could tick off more boxes of firsts for the Bavarian automaker.

The X1 is due next year with the X2 following in 2016, and the 1-Series and said Z2 in 2017. Little is known about any of the future models, except the sharing of BMW’s future front-wheel drive modular platform. The 1-Series is also expected to be larger than the original.
