Report: Maserati caps production to maintain exclusivity
Maserati wants to maintain its exclusivity among the luxury automakers and as a result, the Italian Trident plans to cap production at 75,000 units total per year.
Though despite the production cap, Maserati reportedly has a long distance to go before they even come close to achieving this number in general. So far, the Italian luxury and sports car maker predicts this yearly sales target could happen sometime in 2018.
Maserati only sold 15,400 cars in 2013 but this year, their numbers are up and are expected to double in 2015 to 50,000 cars total with the help of the more affordable and entry-level Ghibli and the new and incoming Levante crossover, due in 2016. Let’s also not forget the highly-anticipated production version of the Alfieri Concept, due sometime in 2017, along with a convertible a year later.
