Report: Audi downplays R8 Plug-In Hybrid, R8 e-tron will be made to order

Audi was rumored to be working on some seriously electrified versions of the next-generation R8, including the all-EV R8 e-tron and the R8 Plug-In Hybrid.

But in a new report from CarAdvice, word is that the R8 Plug-In Hybrid is a no-go while the R8 e-tron will be built specifically to order. The outlet apparently spoke with Audi’s manager, Marie Suzanne Ernst, who said the company will focus on gas and electric variants only.

Ernst did say however other plug-in hybrid models are possible but she declined as to which specific models will receive the treatment.
