Report: Mitsubishi denies Lancer Evo successor

Jalopnik recently spoke with Mitsubishi after releasing what could be the last Lancer Evolution ever for 2015.

In a statement sent to the outlet, the company stated:

“While the Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution has been discontinued in many markets, the United States is committed to producing and marketing the Lancer Evolution through the 2015 model year. Production of the 2015 model year Lancer Evolution is scheduled to begin in July 2014.”

So if you’re a fan of the Evo, you better pick yours up now. Mitsubishi said that there are no current plans to have a successor with a four-wheel drive gasoline-powered setup. But there are possibilities for a high-performance model with electric vehicle technology.
