Report: Next-gen 2016 Lexus RX could have three rows

CarAdvice reports that Lexus may be preparing a larger RX for the next generation, due sometime in 2016. As a result from the increased size, the RX could grow another set of seats at the back.

After speaking with the assistant chief engineer to the new Lexus NX compact crossover, Kei-Ichi Nishiyama, word is that the RX could be turning into a three-row crossover to better separate the two models from each other to avoid model overlap. “There is lots of demand [for seven seats] from the US market,” Nishiyama reportedly said.

Also bolstering these hints was Lexus Australia’s chief executive, Sean Hanley, who said a seven-seat crossover is currently being investigated.
