The Hyundai Sonata Eco announced for 2015, offers 32 mpg combined

Hyundai is on the brink of launching the all-new 2015 Hyundai Sonata and as a result, the brand announced that the Eco model will be launching for the 2015 year next to the other lineup stablemates

The Sonata was first revealed at the New York Auto Show a few months back, sporting the same base and Turbo trims based on engine choice. The base engine is a carryover item from last year, a naturally aspirated 2.4L GDI Theta inline-four good for 185hp, while the Turbo model still utilizes the same 2.0L turbocharged GDI Theta four, though it’s been reworked to offer 245hp and 260 lb-ft of torque, versus last year’s 274hp and 269 lb-ft of torque. Both are mated to a six-speed automatic.

Now, the Eco model utilizes a new turbocharged 1.6L Theta GDI four-banger good for 177hp and 195 lb-ft of torque. The new Sonata Eco also receives the brand’s latest seven-speed dual-clutch automatic, making it the only car in its class to offer one. Additionally, thanks to the new changes, the Sonata Eco is said to deliver an estimated 28 mpg city and 38 mpg highway with a combined rating of 32 mpg.
