Report: Rolls-Royce crossover being developed for a launch in 2018

Germany’s AutoBild reports that Rolls-Royce is preparing its own crossover as Bentley’s SUV crossover prepares to take the super-luxury market by storm. Rolls-Royce being a pinnacle competitor to Bentley was obviously not going to let this fly.

Rolls’ own crossover is expected to surface sometime in 2018 with an estimated cost of around 275,000 euros or $372,000 US, according to today’s conversion rates. It will be placed in between the Ghost and the Phantom throughout the entire lineup. A projected production figure of around 2,000 units per year is expected with majority going to the Middle East and the Untied States.

Not much is known, but the current report hints at the use of component sharing with the rumored BMW X7 and the next-generation 7-Series. That said, you can most likely expect the use of carbon fiber and aluminum to help keep weight down.
