Report: Lexus trademarks IS200t nameplate in the US
Lexus has reportedly filed for a trademark for a new nameplate involving the IS compact sedan. According to a recent report from MotorAuthority, the “IS200t” name was set aside after being filed with the US Trademark and Patent Office.
While trademark filings usually end up being wild-goose chases–meaning trademarks, which could hint at future and potential models, are usually filed for safety purposes, but are rarely fulfilled in the product front–this one seems highly plausible.
Recently, Lexus introduced their first turbocharged engine on their first-ever entry-level crossover: the Lexus NX200t. That motor is an all-new 2.0L turbocharged four-cylinder mill good for 235hp and 258 lb-ft of torque. This engine also poses as a replacement for the gutless 2.5L V6 with only 204hp and 185 lb-ft of torque.
