New owner of Fisker is a Chinese billionaire, ready to go dry to compete against Tesla

Fisker is being put back in the game after a tumultuous start-up with an abusive CEO and problems with battery fires, thanks to Chinese billionaire and chairman and founder of China’s Wanxiang Group Corp., Lu Guanqiu.

His list of accomplishments and appearances are nothing short of massive and after acquiring Fisker Automotive for less than $150 million earlier this year, the tycoon also purchased A123 Systems last year.

As part of the acquisition, this includes a deserted and old General Motors plant in Wilmington, DE, where Lu may have Fisker’s new cars made. As to what’s next for the brand is in the unknown. So far, Lu’s company only produces electric buses and passenger cars are on his list of feats to tackle.
